In Chinese culture and legend, the pearl represents being a true dragon. True dragons usually have a pearl in their mouth or claw symbolising being a ‘true’ dragon.
The pearl symbolises being a ‘true dragon’ and helps us to be true dragons and strong on the water together.
The day began with all crews on the water together taking part in an eye dotting ceremony to ‘awaken’ the dragons ready to race.
The dragons being ‘woken’ ready to race.
